1992 W201 MERCEDES 190E 1.8 Manual 96,000 Genuine Miles - 15 Stamps Appreciating Classic - Show Condition Long Term Family Ownership Original Factory Specification Private Number A2 RYR Unrepeatable Complete Package "If you have something that is of superior quality, and you look after it, it will last you forever" Engine Size - 1,997 cc Chassis No - WDB2010182G033676 Engine No - 10291020116958 A2 RYR First registered and pre delivery inspected by Portfield Mercedes-Benz dealer on 28 10.92. This stunning 190 remained in the first owners possession for 13 years until November 2005. In his tenure he returned to the supplying dealer for all the servicing, the maintenance booklet details no less than 7 service stamps from Portfield MB (and 8 more from specialists). It has all the original handbooks intact, a full set of tools and spare wheel plus four (4) keys. Accompanying the service book is a documented log of everything spent on the car including fuel and where it has been from 1992 to 2005. I can tell you for example, that on 29.4.94 it got £23.95 / 8.94 gallons of fuel for a trip to=Worthington and it averaged 39.36mpg on the run. A remarkable log of history the likes I have never seen before. This could only be the work of a dedicated enthusiast keeper. The colour (Light Ivory) is rather rare and very period complimented perfectly with the light Brown cabin. It presents as it left the factory with a great specification. Frugal 1800cc 136bhp petrol engine married to a desirable nimble 5 speed manual gearbox, power steering, 2 electric windows, passenger side electric mirror, amazing manual throw back sunroof, factory colour coded exterior, original fitted carpet mats.. it's all present and in spotless order. Condition - Show Condition It’s not a restored car, rather a beautiful original survivor. Original paint throughout which retains a wonderful finish. The paintwork is like a coat of enamel. I have a 2021 Mercedes and the paint on this old 190 is better, far superior. The interior is in excellent condition as pictured with no wear indicators at all. This example can be driven right into your garage and brought back out when its time to visit the shows. The engine bay is pristine, as is the boot. Starts first time every time with a recent battery being fitted. The operation of the gears and brakes etc. are superb, the suspension is like driving on air, soft and supple and has real grace. The steering so fluid and precise. Mechanically and bodily as good as it gets, you will not find better. The interior is just super clean. You could eat your dinner off any surface, it is totally spotless. 100 pictures and video to show condition. Wheels & Tyres The wheels are 15" 8 hole MB classic alloys and they are spotless, no kerbs or marks whatsoever. The centre caps and wheel bolts appears as new they are fitted with a matching set of Michelin Cross Climate tyres with deep treads. Also included is a set of winter wheels and tyres these are steel rims with MB hub caps in good order. Service History A total of 15 service in the original service booklet, though this is just the tip of the iceberg, consistent monies have been spent to ensure the car performs as it should, its been a loved car that has been garaged and cherished. The most recent owner had a small collection and kept it carefully preserved. The W201 These cars were made during the best years of MB and are vastly superior to the inferior build quality C Class that replaced it. They were truly over-developed which is why they commanded such high prices when new. Mercedes continue to trade of this reputation despite it peaking in this era, simply put, there is nothing like it. In fact, it’s a miracle that Mercedes actually managed to manufacture it at all retaining a margin of profit such are the high levels of engineering, quality materials and detail present in putting it all together. Certainly could not be done today, mainly as these materials and processes are no longer employed in the mass production car business or it would be a non-profit exercise. From January 1974 to January 1982, Mercedes spent over £600 million researching and developing the 190 and subsequently said it was 'massively over-engineered'. It marked a new venture for Mercedes-Benz, finally giving it a new smaller model to compete with the likes of the Audi 80, BMW 3 Series and Saab 900. Investing your money in this car is a safe prospect. The build quality and craftsmanship on these eras of Mercs will never be seen again. Values of good original W201 models are rising year on year. This example is a real gem and is easily the nicest one I have come across for many years. Complete Package A complete package including the 4 original factory keys, a really great private number with the private number etched on the glass, there's the full owners pack and stamped service book, a history log detailing every penny spent right down to the fuel it consumed, there's a spare set of winter rims, rubber over mats to protect the carpets, the spare wheel and tools, there's warning triangle and the orginal first aid which is unopened.
