Yes it may be overkill for an estate car, though as a package it is unrivalled and has that special feel-good factor and bespoke ownership experience that is hard to capture. There is a firm reason this was the medical safety car for many years in the F1 circuit, as a drivers car its almost untouchable and for me is the epitome of an AMG product and probably the finest purest AMG model ever made. Calling all petrolheads, these cars must be used and enjoyed now as the corridors of power are hell bent on removing them from existence. This is my own personal car, purchased from Mercedes Benz in Ascot in January this year with 10,000 miles and I have covered 4700 miles in that time, all of them wonderful. Complete with a transferable warranty from AMG through to Jan 24 this car with such low mileage and dealer back up will bring you no worries. This car was sold by Romans a few years ago with only 5000 miles and in that time it dropped no value as the residuals and desirability of this specification have not experienced a drop in demand, a super desirable sports estate. PPF applied to bonnet, front wings, mirrors, front bumper, sills, and rear bumper. Leaving only the doors, rear quarters tailgate and roof. This AMG has not been altered in any way from the factory, no remaps or changes, only the addition of the PPF, and the expensive complete over mat and boot protective set. Complete with a full-service record, last serviced and inspected by Mercedes late Jan this year prior to my purchase. Needless to say the car is faultless, complete with all keys, manuals, tools etc. I pondered long and hard on other models, the RS4 for instance and tested many other cars. My background is high performance cars and for me the competitors offered much of the same package but there was an absence of any dynamic feel for the driver, the connection between the seat, steering wheel, tyres and the road is on another level as is the way the S engages all the senses, especially the sound, in race mode no other car will produce this level of cultivated sound right out the box, nothing comes close. And its a split personality, it will happily default back from axe murderer to comfort shopping mode with a push of the button, Jekyll & Hyde doesn't get a look in. For those who are considering the later model, there are few changes, the 9 speed gearbox is rendered useless such is the power, yes it has an updated lcd dash but part of me prefers the analogue speedo and tacho, I drove both and found little to no difference if anything the earlier car is better geared. The reason I am selling is the reality of running such an expensive car as a daily driver, for someone who does a lot of miles it just not viable and I spend too much time cleaning and preserving it which can become tedious, and I torture myself with that. Despite the fact it will return 26 mpg on a full tank with mixed driving I just feel that the car deserves lighter duties and hope to revert to something that is more usable and guilt free. My loss will be someone elses gain. The spec is hard to find, and they are spec sensitive, people want what they want and when you spend 50 k on a used car it has to tick all the boxes. I chose the White as it accentuates the lines and angles of the car and the night package stands out best and never looked back on that. I trawled for months to find the right car and then had to be quick to secure it. Certain things are a must on these models, such as night package, ambient lighting, panoramic roof, for me the carbon dash is the only one to have as is the reverse camera and the head up display, believe me you will need it, things happen very fast in this car and you need all the support you can.
