GTV6
Real Italian magic, the superb Alfa GTV6, a true Alfa with the
classic 160bhp V6 Busso engine. This power plant has a
captivating soundtrack and it drives angry. To live with and
drive the GTV6 was as close as many would ever come to a
Ferrari type ownership experience back in the day. Drop inside and you'll be
treated to a classic Alfa Romeo interior, sports seats with a
wood steering wheel a long reach away, there is a timeless
elegance about the cabin that makes most rivals seem very mass
market, this really is the key to the GTV6 appeal, aside the
marvelous unit up front. It's an indulgent engine, one which
encourages high revs, rewarding the driver with a genuinely
stirring soundtrack. It also feels impossibly long legged, the
torque allowing for a deep-lunged flexibility. You honestly do
not know what you are missing.
This Alfa presents like a new car. The mileage is believed to be
genuine at just 5,746 miles from new.
History
Our client purchased the Alfa from a chap who rescued it from a
barn back in 2020 where it had been stood for a good number of
years amongst a collection of similar rare and interesting
vehicles in various states of preservation (you may remember the
news clip of the barn collection found a few years back). After
contacting the previous owners and satisfying himself that the low
mileage was correct he set about restoring the car back to it's
former glory. Four years later this recomission and restoration
now amounts to some £45,000. We're told the poor chap was crying
when he had to part with it.
Body
The best way to describe the bodywork, fittings and paint work
is 'as new'. Literally a couple of chips in the paint is all
you're going to find. The paint is perfect, like a coat of
enamel. Noting this is not factory paint, no way 42yr old paint
could look this good, the original paint was UV faded in places
and had the odd storage mark so it was refinished
from bare metal. All the plastic and rubber work is pristine
like new, no perished or worn rubbers around the glass or doors
and it has all original glass with Alfa Romeo etchings all
round.
Cabin
The interior is box fresh. Some items have signs of age (patina)
but there is no wear. The chairs are in perfect order with no
sign of wear, these have lovely plump firm cushions with no
sagging or delaminating cloths. The chairs look as though they
have never been sat on. The headcloth is original and tight, the
carpeting like new throughout. No ragged edges or perished
rubbers to be found and all feels wonderful and tight and fresh.
Underneath
The underside of car is presented with all new components and
everything has been renewed or refinished and all is gleaming
with yellow zinc bolts, washers and fittings. The chassis and
subframes, sills and floors are free from rot and have been
treated with preservative. A feast for the eyes, some
underside details can be viewed at the near the end of the video
presentation.
Wheels & tyres
Original 15" GTV alloys wheels are unmarked. They have been
refurbished to a good standard and each one has a new 195/65/15
Uniroyal tyre and new wheel bolts and centre caps.
