First registered 08.07.1985 this is now an historic vehicle &
fully registered as such with
DVLA. It was professionally converted to RHD when new and shows
seven previous keepers.
It converts in kilometers though has an mph overlay on the
speedo.
Subject to a complete body restoration a few years ago it has
been done to a high standard and looks utterly fantastic, it
also has a brand new roof which seals correctly and is light to
handle with a simple throw back. I used the car this last
weekend and it was an utter joy, drawing admiration and glances
and sparking conversation at every stop, its also an absolute
hoot to drive, its engaging, and can be used with ease.
Very few Spiders will present as well as this and offer the
reliability and ownership proposition this one does.
Accompanied with a raft of paperwork, with four keys, and
historic Alfa keyrings, and a useful complete printed workshop
manual. Serviced just a few weeks ago using 20w 50 Valvoline
classic motor oil, its also received a new starter motor, rear
discs & pads, a new wheel bearing, new carb mounts and a
replacement choke cable. Within recent mileage is had the fuel
pump replaced, a new clutch slave, and a new prop shaft bearing.
It starts and drives perfectly with no shortcomings and is ready
to drive show shine or store. The underside is in excellent
condition. A Blaupunkt Bluetooth
retro head unit has been fitted pairing with your phone to allow
calls and audio
play. Recent matching set of Goodyear tyres.
The Alfa Spider
The Alfa Romeo Spider is a stunning roadster that excels in
relaxed, stylish open-top cruising. Styled by Pininfarina, it
looks gorgeous with the roof up or down and easily outshines
most rivals of its era aesthetically. Its also enduring,
standing the test of time for nearly thirty years, managing now
to look better and better with age. Many among us will recall
the film The Graduate and the actor a young Dustin Hoffman whose
character drove a Series 1 Alfa Romeo ‘Duetto’ Spider.
Slotted with a two-litre fuel injected twin cam engine, that at
124bhp might not be the last word in outright power, though does
provide some really useful mid-range torque to help maintain a
decent progress most of the time. The five speed gearbox it is
mated to has a sweet enough action, and the ratios all make
perfect sense. This is a genuinely easy car to hustle, and one
that will return 35mpg so as not to break the bank either.
The Alfa Romeo Spider seduces everyone who drives it, using
those model like looks to entice you before trapping you
completely in its web of mechanical feeling front engine and
rear wheel drive balance once out on the road. Being trapped in
a spiders web should be more than a little embarrassing, but not
in this case. |
