1989 FORD SIERRA SAPPHIRE COSWORTH 2WD 72,000 miles - 3 Owners Totally Original & Unmodified Never Welded or Undersealed Stunning Investment RS G319 OAM - An Iconic British Classic First registered and pre delivery inspected by Haywards Motors Ford to a Mr Dexter in Leicester on 18.08.1989. His tenure of ownership lasted over seventeen years until October 2006 when custody passed to a Mr Newman in the same city, his tenure lasting twelve years until 2018. The most recent owner from Swaffham has owned since. Originality Factory standard in every detail with only the addition of an immobiliser for added security. Never been welded never been undersealed, never been tuned or modified in any way, standard exhaust, never been recorded in an accident. Matching numbers to all chassis plates and stamps, all glass on the car is etched with original number from new which it retains. Genuine & unmolested of which there are very few around, immaculate bodywork untouched interior, original stereo and amp, original airbox and cambelt cover, original two-wheel drive non slatted bonnet, original amber indicator lenses, spare alloy, and tools etc etc. Complete Ford book pack, with all relevant supplied driver handbooks, audio manuals, radio code and rare original service booklet. There is also every mot from early 90s onwards plus a host of historic bills. Service History Unusual to find an old Ford with all the book pack manuals and service booklet, though present here. The current test is July 2023 with no advise. Indeed, there have been no advisories of any note in many years. Some recent and historic work is noted below. There are no outstanding matters at all, its ready to be stored showed or used. - Serviced a few months ago, oil, oil filter, fuel filter, new starter motor, new fuel pump, new set of Toyo tyres all round. - A new clutch was fitted around 60000 miles - A new standard exhaust system, fitted around 58000 miles. - New valve guides, stem seals, top engine work around 57000 miles. The exterior presents beautifully, as does the underside, inner doors, door rubbers, sills, under engine. It’s never been undersealed so it’s a transparent car with nothing to hide. The headlight wipers are missing, still able to be bought, and the door card pocket covers have shrunk and are receding. These being the only negatives I can find, and on a classic 33-year-old Cosworth, nothing. On The Road The mint condition inside and out continues with the wheels moving, it drives perfect, the engine is so smooth and quiet, gearbox is nice and tight selecting gears smoothly with no crunchies rattles or wines. The modest bhp figure is not to be sneered at, there is lightness and agility to the car, it lifts up and flies when you floor it, and the rwd is far more engaging an experience and ultimately the non-diluted first version. I have driven and owned many Cosworth’s, I don’t recall one that drove so sweet on the road, it’s just been properly looked after and feels sharp and box fresh... Summary This is a true collector‘s piece and a rare example of an unmolested original Cosworth finished in a desirable colour with the preferable period cloth Recaros. Its a low owners/miles car with provenance, perfect condition with no cover ups or dodgy history and total originality, you will struggle to find better. The values continue to climb with genuine RS models continuing to pile on value, the exact same car as tis with less miles albeit sold for over £43000 at last Silverstone classic sale, and next year it will be more and same after.
