1990 Desirable 3-door ’90 spec MK2 GTI 8-valve 1 owner through to 2021/2 Previous Extensive mechanical and cosmetic refresh Stunning Condition A highly original, extensively recommissioned two-owner GTi. First registered in August 1990 and supplied by Martins Volkswagen of Basingstoke, H176 PWJ was owned and maintained by its first keeper through to 2021. Extensive history file documenting refurbishment work completed in 2022. Original book packs, dealer number plates, tax disc and window stickers all present. V5 present and HPI clear. Watch on YouTube Paintwork, Exterior and Overall Condition · Finished in Schwarz black and sporting pristine, freshly refurbished, original BBS ‘RA’ wheels. · The original paint is in good order, with some stone chips and light blemishes consistent with the cars age. · As part of recommissioning work undertaken in 2022, the car had a new scuttle panel fitted to take care of a few spots of rust that were emerging around the wiper arms, common on MK2’s. · The rest of the body is corrosion free in the usual areas (door bottoms, fuel filler). · Exterior plastic trim is in excellent condition and complete. · A new windscreen and seal has been fitted, alongside window scraper rubber seals on both front doors. · Headlights and fog lights have been replaced with ‘NOS’ original Hella units · Exterior badges and decals have been restored · All locks and the ignition work from a single original VW key, no issue of mismatched lock sets from common failed door handles. Interior Condition and Accessories As with the exterior, the interior is highly original and well preserved. As part of its re-commissioning, a few common issues have also been attended to. · The seats, door cards and carpets are in excellent condition with little sign of wear. There is one small area to the piping on the lower outer driver’s seat bolster that is out of place. · There are no cracks on the dashboard, all switchgear works as it should. · The leather gear gaiter has been replaced with new and the steering wheel is an original VW leather-wrapped item, rare in a GTI. · The headlining has been professionally restored using reproduction material matching the original VW pattern, sourced from VW Heritage. · The common issue with failed binnacle MFA computer has been attended to with a fully refurbished set of clocks. · Seat back release cables have been replaced. · Original dealer tax disc holder has been preserved. · A set of rare ‘NOS’ original dealer fit ‘Votex’ carpet mats have been fitted · The heater matrix and blower motor have been replaced. Mechanicals & Servicing - 138975 miles In additional to scheduled servicing, the following items have been replaced in 2022 to refresh mechanical performance. H176 PWJ performs just as she did in 1990.
