Type 19
After some research into the model, I’ve discovered that under
300 early 16v cars came to the UK, in production from August of
1986, to August of 1987. These fall under the Type 19 model
designation, along with early 8v models, featuring unique spec,
almost a half way house from the mk1 to mk2, no power steering,
small bumpers, and many other slight differences (below) to
later cars.
D717 NRH
Registered 12th March 1987 and only had three previous keepers,
the whole car is original with minimal marks, its never had any
recorded accidents or been stolen or broken into with all glass
and lenses being wholly original with factory labels.
This model holds a special place in my own heart, rewind to Jan
1996 and I
owned this exact car, same colour year spec the lot,
indistinguishable with
plates removed. I have been a motor dealer for 23 yrs and one
thing
I have owned a lot of is performance Golfs, even today I use a
contemporary model as a daily.
An extremely rare motor car, which enjoyed a limited production
run of approx only
one year in 16V guise. Early type 19 Volkswagen's Golf GTI
models are very thin, especially in 16V guise, all the correct
type 19 early period features such as the three quarter windows,
mirrors set back, red stripe bumpers, door mouldings, vinyl,
strips, 7 slat grill, LHD wipers, etc are all still in place.
The condition is superb, complete factory spec right down to the
original factory stereo, all handbooks and manuals, service
booklet, the original 16V pill key, an immobiliser and a thick
folder of bills. Its had very few keepers, only 3 previous prior
to me. It has front electric windows, manual mirrors and
sunroof.
In the time I have owned I have replaced the headlining, a
correct factory
item at £450 cost, fully serviced it, with new plugs and filters
throughout.
I changed the timing belt last year, fitted new Uniroyal tyres,
and poly bushed the whole car, as such it starts on the button,
ready to be used, kept on charger in a dry garage with a
dehumidifier. A new MOT will be put on the car, as it expired 3
months ago after summer use, and this will be effectively its
last, rolling into classic status in 14 months time.
I will entertain a part exchange and can deliver anywhere in the
UK.
I will attempt to a proper exterior photo shoot and videos when
the weather clears up, any specific requests do ask, easiest
done by messaging or whatsapp..
