1996 Mazda MX-5 1.8 UK Car 106,000 Miles British Racing Green Genuine Original Car Perfect Mechanically Ready For The Sun The MX-5 Roadster In 1989, the Japanese motor industry came of age, and Mazda built a traditional British sports car in the shape of the MX-5. It looked like a Lotus, sounded like a Triumph, and went like an MGB. Except there was one important difference: it all worked and it was reliable. In short, the MX-5 was the perfect roadster for those who wanted the traditional British sports car experience without the associated worries of unreliability and oil leaks. With a powerful twin-cam engine that’s more exciting than it's 1.6 litres sibling, the MX-5 offers sufficient performance, though not enough to trouble the fine handling and grip. There are plenty of hatches that are more powerful and quicker in a straight-line, but none is as entertaining or life-affirming as this little rear-drive roadster. The MX-5 proves that the genuine roadster thrill still exists, even in this era of oversized sports cars. Getting the top down and enjoying a proper ride has never been so simplified. With a classic look that turns heads, the Mazda MX-5 is built to hug the road and deliver an authentic roadster feel. The aerodynamic design helps heighten the sporty performance. It really is a car that's a joy to drive. Features a Z-folding vinyl soft-top for simple, "throw-it-back" top-down fun. It can be closed, latched and opened with minimum effort, and an easy-to-use single central lock - leaving you fully able to concentrate on having some fun in the sun. The rear-wheel drive chassis layout guarantees 50/50 weight distribution for outstanding balance and agility. Following the classic sports car formula, with the engine in the front, driving the rear wheels, giving great balance. The gear change is light and precise, the ride is still smooth though, the MX-5’s brilliant dynamics remain. The MX-5 is such a polished performer that it’s hard to isolate one single area in which it excels.
