Servicing - Large Box File Of Paperwork
It has a comprehensive service history which is as much as
anyone could dream of, which verifies the mileage over its life.
Just received a spark plug change service last week, a new fuel
pump, all injectors refurbished, a new battery,
and a new fuel sender. An MOT test has been carried out with no
advise and the test history online is excellent.
Condition - Fantastic Underside Condition
The bodywork and RS Blau paint of this RS2 presents in superb
condition, with flush shut lines and even gaps around the
panels. The paint reflects a deep gloss and is highly detailed
over every surface, it’s been a garage queen. The underside is
in fantastic order. The cabin has only the lightest of patina to
the leathers retaining a deep luster and depth to the finish.
Tyre/Alloys/Brakes
The tyres are matching Goodyear Eagle F1s all essentially as
new. The spare is an immaculate full-size alloy with good tyre .
The brake calipers looks as new and all brake components in fine
order. The toolkit is present as is the jack. The luggage blind
features alongside a factory correct set of fitted carpet mats,
and a boot inlay.
The RS2
The Audi 80 Avant RS2 is an iconic performance fast Audi &
highly collectible modern classic. Finished in a handsome
factory colour scheme, and with such good story its a compelling
example of the breed, preserved in excellent condition. This was
a very expensive car in 1995 with a few of the 180 quota also
going to Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, only built
from 1994 to 1996. Becoming thin now, very few left with less
even seen in the UK, so one can only speculate how many of the
remaining numbers remain worldwide? Scarce for sure.
The RS2 was collaboratively designed as a joint venture between
Audi and Porsche and built on the Audi's B4 80 Avant estate
model. The now legendary RS was both the first Audi 'RS' model,
as well as Ingolstadt marque's first high performance all-wheel
drive estate. Powered by a Porsche modified version of Audi's
in-line, 5 cylinder, turbo charged 2.2 litre 20 valve engine,
the RS2 developed 315 bhp. The Porsche tuned engine hurled the
RS2 from 0-62mph in just 4.8 seconds on to a tarmac melting
163mph. A total of 2,891 RS2 were built, of which just 180 right
hand drive examples were produced world wide. Assembled by
Porsche) they feature the legendary Audi 5-cylinder 20v turbo
motor, tuned by Porsche including a bigger turbo, heavy duty
intercooler, revised camshaft and bigger injectors , quattro 4
wheel drive, and locking rear differential. Porsche raided the
968 Clubsport parts bin for the suspension, brakes, 17in cup
wheels & cup mirrors. |
Summary
Even today if driven with focus, this is a very fast capable
express with many systems and components largely hand built at
Porsche becoming evident with use. After all it was assembled at
Porsche's Rossle-Bau factory, the same facility that produced
the Mercedes-Benz 500E and Porsche 959, it’s a real hall of fame
chariot that can only appreciate.
A unique driving & ownership experience, managing to be entirely
unassuming and excels in its own versatility. Whether it be,
drive, ski, shop, tour, show, or collect & shine, it ticks many
boxes. A sweet spot car that’s old enough to be classic yet
modern enough to be used as intended & be relevant. The
character of the machine is mostly practical & docile with a
facility to be explosive and surprising. The build quality &
product durability is the high-water mark for interesting
high-performance cars of this era, it doesn’t get better.
