1986 Sierra Cosworth 3 door
100,100 Miles
File of History
300+ bhp
Nice condition Cosworth. There is no rot or blisters. The paint
finish is to a
pretty good standard and there is no signs or accident damage around
the panels
or chassis that I or my local specialist can tell of.
The cabin is ok, there is room for improvement here, just age
related patina, some
plastic bits have naturally twisted out of shape as they do in old
Fords and there
is some patchy colour fade to the fabrics and plastics, driver seat
base is a bit
saggy. It is complete though, nothing missing and nothing ragged
out. The parcel
shelf is there with no holes. I don't have the original steering
wheel and I don't like
the speaker fittings on the doors either.
What is does have in heaps is nostalgia, dripping from every
surface.
Don't ask me the spec, look at the pics. You probably know more
about this than me.
I estimate to be around 300bhp, it goes sideways in 2nd gear - on a
dry road while
being pointed in straight line, so you need your wits about you.
It's abit lumpy on start up, better when warmed up, maybe wants a
tune, it hasn't
had much use recently, maybe done a few hundred miles in 5 years. I
took it for
it's MoT in August last year (or rather, it took me;) and it passed
with no advise
again as it always does.
The fuel gauge does not work, slow electric windows are the only
faults comes to
mind.
Underneath is good and solid. It's had a weld to the floor in the
past if I remember
correctly but it's solid. It's all painted white underneath, fully
poly bushed,
yellow Koni's, full stainless system.. it won't win any awards for
the underside
but it's clean and solid with no concerns.
This is a Cosworth that you can use. It's fast and loud and looks
great. I don't have
the original rims, sorry.
HPi is showing as having a colour change from Black to White. All
the numbers match
on the floor, slam panel and logbook, this appears to be a genuine
Cosworth but I've had
an enthusiast comment that it may or may not be a reshell too? I
have had many questions
and spoken to many enthusiasts during the advertising of this car,
there are so many opinions,
I really don't know what to believe.
Some say it's a reshell, some say it's a ringer, some say is a real
Cossie, some say it's
100% definately a 1986 3dr shell because it has the tow eyes and
bulkhead that were
unique to the '86 shell, some say it has never been black, some say
the numbers on a
Cossie should be stamped from the bottom up, some say that some were
stamped
from the top, some say it may have had a new floor and the numbers
added again.. I
don't know, this is 37 years old and there has been 8 owners. It is
not my intention to
mislead anyone whatsoever.
What I do know is the numbers match on the floor, slam panel
and on the V5, it's been MoT
inspected every year and HPI is not showing any red flags
so I think it's doubtful a guy on
in the pub or on facebook knows something that HPI or DVLA don't.
I have noted everything I know, things I don't know and I have
pictured everything
below, the bad bits and underside too and I welcome any inspection,
I'll even make
you a coffee.
It's not a concours £60000+ car so don't come here expecting
anything like it. It's an old
Ford and it wants some tlc in places. Everything you need to know
about the condition is
in the pics below. It starts and drives and it looks fine and in 3
years will be tax and MoT
exempt.
Any inspection is welcome folks, I know you love a Cossie so I'm not
looking to waste
anyone's time, I have been as honest as I can be, there are no
hidden surprises here.
All the information you need is in the pictures and video.
