First registered in UK 20.01.1998 this extremely low mileage VR6
has rather an interesting
story. The first owner served in the British forces out in
Zimbabwe S. Africa, and he ordered
the car new from VW dealer out there taking advantage of the
available tax relief though the
car went direct to UK to be registered and plated. The first
keeper’s tenure lasted about five
years (circa 2002) whereupon the second owner had the various
upgrades that are still present
today. Shortly after this he simply stopped driving it, and was
put off the road some point in
2004 into dry storage at his premises and in immaculate
condition with a very low mileage.
There she lay some fourteen years until circa 2018 when the
third owner viewed and bought the
property and enquired about the car in the garage, and
subsequently bought it.
The third owner (a top-level mechanical engineer) elected to do
the timing chain and head gasket as a
precautionary measure, though covered less than a thousand miles
in his tenure, he also carried
out a £10000 re-commission ( all details in pic 20).
Specification
The spec is unusual, in that VW never made a VR6 Colour Concept
model in 3dr format. My
understanding is that they did offer 100 examples in 5 dr format
to Australian market.
The car began life as high spec VR6 in Mystic Blue, with
electric roof, digital climate
and heated seats. At some point during the modification process
the interior has been fully
swapped out for colour concept kit, with extended leather to
doors, dash, & centre console
with an extremely high level of finish. Other upgrades such as
pedals, leather ribbed mats,
Alpine audio, Lockwood sill plates and white dials finish the
cabin.
The car is sett off with a ridiculously expensive set of genuine
BBS rims shod with excellent
tyres, the rims have been colour coded to body and are in
wonderful order.
Condition
Its fantastic, and it drives like new, has to be driven to be
understood, I mean like new. New
MOT carried out today one month prematurely so tested until July
2025.
Virtually everything has been overhauled. Check underside
images.
I have a full video of the car. I also have a zip file of image
of all the mechanical work
completed showing the chains and gasket being properly done.
