N874 AAH
First registered 01.04.1996 by Stern Hamamatsu Mercedes dealer
in Japan and
brought to our shores 01.06.2017 being UK registered by
Specialist Cars in York.
This is a genuine JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) classic vehicle
with rare factory
7 seater option, automatic gearbox, super smooth bombproof six
cylinder engine,
Azurite blue metallic paint, electric factory cloth, high gloss
walnut wood pack,
electric sunroof, correct factory 8-hole alloys, cruise control
full electric pack,
factory air -conditioning, front mud flaps, rubber boot load
protector, and with only
one keeper in the UK.
W124 Touring
This is one of the very last of the proper Mercedes ever made.
These vehicles
are quite simply a joy to drive. The high standard of build
quality and durability defined the reputation that MB still exploit today despite that
it peaked at this
moment. This was the finest luxury car in the world, it was
built to a standard
that other manufacturers could only gasp at, setting a benchmark
of engineering
excellence that has not been surpassed to this day. Due to the
high cost of
German engineering and build quality, the W124 was designed to
last many miles,
with awards given and worn by high mileage versions. The
Mercedes 2.8 12 valve petrol is a legendary bullet proof unit that is so
underworked that it
can last forever if routinely serviced.
Condition
This particular example is as good as they get and the entire
car has an
incredibly appealing ambiance. It is in an unmolested condition
with routine
consistent servicing and sympathy and heaps of love and care. It
has very
obviously always been cherished. A general walk around and a
study of its history
will leave you in no doubt that you are in the presence one of
the best used
Mercedes left of its kind. Of particular note is the condition
of the underside,
(pictured) presenting like a vehicle only a few years old
putting our UK cars to
shame. Everything in working order.
Servicing
A considerable amount of paperwork including original Japanese
service book which
is always lost to the sands of time. All the export paperwork is
in place inclusive
of the UK bill of sale for £11000 back in 2017. The current MOT
is valid through to
17.12.25 with no advise. A fair amount of money has been spent
in the last few years
ensuring the car is ready for use (detailed below).
Note : the car converts in km though has had an mph sticker
overlayed in mph.
Other interim oil services have taken place and are documented.
Wheels/Tyres/Tools
The alloys were refinished by the wheel specialist back in 2017
and shod with a
matching set of Continental winter contacts. The spare alloy is
unused as new, the
jack toolkit roll, first aid kit and warning triangle are
present.

Summary
I have probably overstressed the message already; however this
is a very very nice
classic Mercedes and those who come to see it will be absolutely
delighted with what
they see. The classic colour scheme can only enhance the
long-term residual. Residing
in Japan most of its life has obvious advantages, in that they
don’t use
salt on the roads, the climate is warm & dry, though lacking the
intense heat
of other countries which can be counterproductive to cosmetics.
JDM vehicles are also subject to the “Japanese Shaken” a strict
government test to
ensure cars on Japanese roads are kept to an extremely high
standard, as cars get
older this gets stricter, and as a result most cars are not kept
longer than 6 or
7 years. Needless to say, this was the high-water mark for MB
and I wouldn’t hesitate
to go touring in it anywhere, its starts on the button and is
silent and superior to
drive and are becoming highly sought after with zero
depreciation, the value of it will
only rise if maintained.
