Low Miles
This is a low mileage Jaguar, it exudes youthfulness in the
appearance of the paint and bodywork and the cabin is a timewarp
back to 1997. The rear chairs look like they have never been sat
upon and they probably haven't. There is zero wear on the driver
bolster and the passenger seat is as new. The carpets are
perfect and dry and the headlining has no sag and there is no
delamination of any cloths from the pillars or rear shelf (I'm
familiar where these go). 10/10 condition, you will struggle to
find a nicer XK8 to pilot.
The coachwork is in very good order, it has a youthful look and
the preparation work was a joy, the paintwork is in an excellent
state of preservation thanks to regularly being treated with
quality product conditioning, I had very little to do to this
car other than wash & high definition glaze. Moving aboard the
condition is equally excellent in every direction, as you can
judge from the many pictures. All in good working order as
checked. The wheels have an original state of finish, tyres
(Pirelli)
are excellent all round, the boot is clean and the engine bay is
detailed. Having owned many XK models I am more than familiar
with the areas on these cars that corrode, this example is in genuine great condition with
straight panels that are like mirrors.
On The Road
The engine is superb, 0 -60 in 6.5 secs and onto 155 mph.
Demonstrates perfect power to weight ratio with superb balance
landing it firmly on its feet. The 4.0-liter V8 produces 290
bhp, coupled to a seamless a five-speed automatic transmission.
Driving the XK along twisty roads is wonderful. The steering is
very precise and provides good feel at speed.
At the same time, the steering remains light to the touch at low
speeds, making driving around town and in tight car parks a bit
easier. Handling is firm without being too harsh and the depth
of engineering is immediately apparent, this is the fine driving
XK, it glides without a grumble when drive over uneven terrain.
Summary
Classic car ownership is booming, this model has now bottomed
out in price long ago,
clean examples are to be cherished and are rising in value. We
need only to take a glance at the values of the model
predecessor's, the E type success is well documented, the XJS is
now gaining values rapidly, and it is always the early launch
models that rise first, pre 82 XJS models have literally trebled
in value in the last 10 years with all models holding strong.
This is not just a nice car, it's a Modern Classic to be
cherished.
